Killing Online processes
Posted in 1993
Sorry, I have been a little behind and missed the discussion of killing Online processes. We have been busy with Online and doing things like killing processes. IN this case it was it was tbcheck -pT that I killed with.. you guessed it.. a -9. Online aborted which we all knew immediately due to lact of initialized shared memory. Under tbmonitor we came back rather immediately with apparently no damage but killing tbcheck seems to be a bad idea. We would of course like to know the final answer on what to kill with which switch. Eight or nine months ago I was advised by Informix tech support to kill 4ge processes under the Standard Engine with the -9 switch and then clean up any related sqlexec processes with -13 , and if need be, -15. The Online environment appears to require something different. Any authoritative experience would be helpful Thanks +-----------------------------+------------------------------------------+ | Con Woodall | Internet: cwoodall@vth1.vth.colostate.edu| | Veterinary Teaching Hospital| | | Colorado State University | Voice: (303) 491-1244 | | Fort Collins, CO 80523 | Fax: (303) 491-1205 | "You can do anything with a computer -- but you might not want to."-- A computer systems design instructor for IBM, Detroit, ca.
