Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

I am not sure if this got posted earlier. Please excuse the redundancy
if it did.
I am running Informix 7.23 on a sun SPARC 1000
We decided to upgrade from cooked files to raw devices for performance
reasons and we now run into the problem where onmonitor displays
a message "WARNING: Network Down".
During the intialization process on tailing the log files I see the
following
messages
1) Unable to increase file size limits, need to be super-user (this
error
I get if I run oninit -i as informix or root
2) A few informative messages
3) Building the sysmaster tables
4) Sysmaster tables built successfully
5) Checkpoint completed
I am able to create the stores databsae in the root dbspace and perform
selects, inserts etc. My root dbspace chunk is in a raw device. The
LVM shows the status up and running.
However when I go to add a dbspace/chunk it gives me an error in
onmonitor
saying it cannot locate the raw device soft link. (I have the
permissions
set fine to 660 and owner/group as informix). Exiting the screen it
mentions a network error. None of the sqlhosts, /etc/services or the
/etc/hosts files have changed. When I do go into onmonitor I see an
error in the log file pop up saying
-951 User informix is not known.....however in the sysmaster DB
in the sysusers database there is an entry for informix...
Any ideas? Any help appreciated. Please send me an email directly
or reply to the newsgroup.
Thanks in advance.
