Re: onbar without storage manager?

Hi,
you may also want to look at external backup and restore
(see the "Backup and Restore Guide" manual for more info).
If you do log backup, then external backup and restore with
onbar offers you a more consistent interface for the restore
scenario.
However you cannot use onbar to backup anything (dbspaces or
logs) without a storage manager. As pointed out by Neil Truby,
there is ISM, a free-of-charge but somewhat limited storage
manager. See the "Storage Manager Administrator's Guide"
for more info.
If you do not backup your logs, then external backup and restore
may be the simplest method.
Regards,
Martin

Informix has a storafe manager integrate within ("Informix Storage
Manager")
which can be used for this.
Or, depending upon your version, use ontape and a bit of scripting. There
are probably some examples in the software section at www.iiug.org.
