Hi Jim,
although it might sound strange, but check your SHELL environment variable:
If it either points to nothing or to an invalid Unix shell you will run into
this error message. Try to do an unsetenv SHELL (for csh).
I definitely have to admit that the error message is misleading... :-)
Explanation: For some reason the 6.00 server is trying to fork a subshell
in order to create the sqexplain.out file. If SHELL is not set correctly, you
will run into trouble.
