The term "free" is left over from the days of Informix 5.0. When a log was emptied, it was
marked as 'free'. With 7.x the only time you see a log marked as 'free' is if it is a newly
added log that has never been used. If you have a full log it is listed as "U" and if it is
backed up, it is listed as "U_B" - essentially "free".
