Hi all, I have installed IDS 9.4 on RHEL3. Now i'm trying to connect to Informix via JDBC Driver 2.21 but, it is raising an exception com.informix.asf.ifxASFException. On investigating in online.log, i found that there are two errors on that are causing this error. 12:42:19 On-Line Mode 12:43:48 listener-thread: err = -14565: oserr = 0: errstr = : CSS: error reading data. 12:43:51 listener-thread: err = -25580: oserr = 32: errstr = : System error occurred in network function. System error = 32. On referring to the error: 14565, (oninit.com) i found that i should set some client side environment variables. but, how can i set them in a pre-written a JAva program. Please help me. Tahnks & Reagrds, Ravi.

Just as for any pre-written program , in the users environment who
starts the
application.
The command 'finderr' can be valuable in such cases (in
$INFORMIXDIR/bin) .
For error 12565 finderr suggests:
%>finderr 14565
-14565 CSS: error reading data.
The database server or client's attempt to receive data to establish
Communication Support Services (CSS) context failed.
...<snip>
Use the environment variable INFORMIXCONTIME or INFORMIXCONRETRY, or
both, on the client side to increase the connection time and the
number
of retry attempts.
...<snip>
Assuming your are UNIX, bourne shell, :
1) log in as the user
2) in bourne shell type the command
INFORMIXCONTIME=<#_of_sec_to_attempt> ; export INFORMIXCONTIME3) and or type the command
INFORMIXCONRETRY=<#_of_retrys> ; export INFORMIXCONRETRY#Replace with some sensitive values
#Defaults are one retry with 60 secs timeout .
# you may want to setr these in the .login script or some equivalent.
4) start your application
These variables are intended to workaround connection problems on
congested networks. If your network is congested, this may help.

Hi, You can specify Informix variables in your connection string: jdbc:informix-sqli://123.45.67.89:1533/testDB:INFORMIXSERVER=myserver;INFORM IXCONTIME=300;user=rdtest;password=test Marcus -----Original Message----- From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:ids-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Jean Georges Perrin Sent: Thursday, November 02, 2006 3:00 PM To: ids@iiug.org Subject: RE: Unable to connect informix via JDBC driver2.21 [7715] Can you share you connection code wide us? > -----Original Message----- > From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:ids-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of > RAVI MADABHUSHANAM > Sent: Tuesday, October 31, 2006 08:51 > To: ids@iiug.org > Subject: Unable to connect informix via JDBC driver2.21 [7693] > > > Hi all, > > I have installed IDS 9.4 on RHEL3.
