Hi all My environment: Informix 7.31FD6 , HP-UX 11.11 Do I need hosts file to use ER ? I am trying to use Windows DNS to resolve all my IP ( inclusive HP-UX ) . When I use dbacces to connect to another instance everything is OK without /etc/hosts . But when I try to use cdr connect server <servname> ER does not connect. rlogin , rcp and etc....( all HP-UX stuff) work 100% using DNS ( without /etc/hosts in HP ) Any Idea? Thanks nsswitch.conf file hosts: files [NOTFOUND=continue TRYAGAIN=continue] dns [UNAVAIL=continue] files resolv.conf file domain name.rede nameserver xxx.xx.x.x1 nameserver xxx.xx.x.x2 nameserver xxx.xx.x.x3 ( put x just to hide my IP ) Ricardo
7.31 ER does require that the servers be fully trusted, but should work with DNS (as long as the IP addresses are consistant). I don't think that DNS has anything to do with your problem.
