IDS and horizontal scalability

Hello All, Does IDS 9.3 have horizontal scalability? Suppose I have a requirement to demonstrate horizontal scalability of my application, how do I do it on IDS. I am not sure if IDS meets this criterea, upon searching I found that XPS meets this, but AFAIK, XPS is the data warehousing solution. But we only use RDBMS. We don't have a data warehousing. If I choose XPS, can I use it as an RDBMS? Will my stored procs and queries work as they are on XPS? Please do reply to me. regards, Abhishek.
You can use HDR for read-only scaling or ER for full horizontal scaling. However, your application does need to know how to use this. -- Bye now, Obnoxio "C'est pas parce qu'on n'a rien à dire qu'il faut fermer sa gueule" - Coluche "Necrophilia means never having to say ... well, anything!" - Captain Pedantic "Ogni uomo mi guarda come se fossi una testa di cazzo" - Marco >From: "ABHISHEK SR...." <abhishes@hotmail.com> >To: ids@iiug.org >Subject: IDS and horizontal scalability [2278] Date: Mon, 1 Dec 2003 >08:57:14 -0500 (EST) >Received: from ace.iiug.org ([216.177.38.212]) by mc9-f30.hotmail.com with >Microsoft SMTPSVC(5.0.2195.6713); Mon, 1 Dec 2003 07:02:57 -0800 >Received: from ace.iiug.org (localhost [127.0.0.1])by ace.iiug.org >(8.12.10-14/8.12.8) with ESMTP id hB1Dvv4S024418;Mon, 1 Dec 2003 09:48:00 >-0500 (EST) >Received: (from nobody@localhost)by ace.iiug.org (8.12.10-14/8.12.8/Submit) >id hB1DvEM1024377;Mon, 1 Dec 2003 08:57:14 -0500 (EST) >X-Message-Info: UZmYcfFpTCc+1GWUNfSUQpRcjZsy8hqp >Message-Id: <200312011357.hB1DvEM1024377@ace.iiug.org> >Apparently-To: forum.subscriber@iiug.org >Precedence: bulk >Return-Path: nobody@ace.iiug.org >X-OriginalArrivalTime: 01 Dec 2003 15:02:58.0088 (UTC) >FILETIME=[34CBEA80:01C3B81C] > >Hello All, > >Does IDS 9.3 have horizontal scalability? > >Suppose I have a requirement to demonstrate horizontal scalability of my >application, how do I do it on IDS. > >I am not sure if IDS meets this criterea, upon searching I found that XPS >meets this, but AFAIK, XPS is the data warehousing solution. > >But we only use RDBMS. There are some customers who use XPS for OLTP work, but they are few and far between. Using ER is actually likely to be _less_ disruptive than migrating to XPS. And disk is cheap. :o) -- Bye now, Obnoxio "C'est pas parce qu'on n'a rien à dire qu'il faut fermer sa gueule" - Coluche "Necrophilia means never having to say ... well, anything!" - Captain Pedantic "Ogni uomo mi guarda come se fossi una testa di cazzo" - Marco >From: "Abhishek Srivastava" <abhishes@hotmail.com> >To: "'Obnoxio The Clown'" <obnoxio@hotmail.com>,<ids@iiug.org> >Subject: RE: IDS and horizontal scalability [2278] >Date: Tue, 2 Dec 2003 11:04:10 +0530 >MIME-Version: 1.0 >X-Originating-IP: [192.6.59.72] >X-Originating-Email: [abhishes@hotmail.com] >X-Sender: abhishes@hotmail.com >Received: from 192.6.59.72 by bay9-dav46.bay9.hotmail.com with DAV;Tue, 02 >Dec 2003 05:34:08 +0000 >Message-ID: <20031202053408.3fcc2450051ffffff53@hotmail.com> >X-Mailer: Microsoft Office Outlook, Build 11.0.5510 >Thread-Index: AcO4U/d1igpZqaJvRnKAMZ8oftDLIgAQb8sg >In-Reply-To: >X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.3790.0 > >Hello Obnoxio, > >I thought about ER based solution, but our database is quite huge and >replication would bloat up disk space usage which the customer does not >want >to do. > >Can you give me some details about XPS in this case?
