Export Data automatically from Informix DB to Oracle DB

Hello experts, I have the requirements to import relational data stored in an informix database into an Oracle database. Unfortunately this is not a one time move of the data. I have to mirror data every 24h in one case. In the other case the actualisation should be done every 60-120 seconds. What input (platform, versions) is important to find a solution? I know, that the Informix DB is on a unix platform. If it makes sense, I can get a mirrored Informix DB on NT (would be slow, how to synchronize the mirroring and the loading into Oracle). The Oracle DB (probably 8.0.4, may be 7.3.4 for the fist few months) is running on NT. Which possibilities are there to solve these requirements? 1.) One solution could be to execute Informix utilities, write flat files and improt these data using SQL-Loader. 2.) Another idea is to mirror the Informix DB to an Informix on NT and then using ODBC (I wonder if there is an ODBC-Interface for HP-UX. I know there is one for Linux but I never used it before) 3.) What about Gateway tools. Is there one for accessing Informix? Which solution would be the fastest? And what about the costs for the customer. Do you have any suggestion how I can get an overview to possible solutions? And which solution would you prefer? Thanks for any advice. Do you answer per email? If not, because this topic could be interesting for other members also, please email me where I will find your answer (additional information). Informix DataStage will read from Informix and Write to Oracle. It is a DataWarehousing ETL (extract, transform and load tool). The product was designed by a company called Ardent. It's a GUI and is reasonably easy to use. It's sure as heck will be easier than coding this fine process. We are using the Informix Enterprise Gateway manager here to copy data from Oracle 8i (running on HP UX) to Informix Online (again HP UX) This product would do the job for you it simply uses ODBC calls so it will also work on your Oracle NT database. In summary once it's set up you can create synonyms in your Informix database which link to the Oracle database table. Then you can use normal Informix sql/4gl/esqlc functionality to write to the Oracle database. Hope this helps let me know if you need any more help Paul In article <G%H35.133$75.995@telenews.teleline.es>, "Manfred Tischendorf" <tischendorf@arkusa.de> wrote: > Hello experts, > > I have the requirements to import relational data stored in an informix > database into an Oracle database.
