Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
A user asked when IDS 9.40.xC8 would be released, noting it appeared in release notes but not in Passport Advantage (PPA) or the platform availability spreadsheet, and that support calls kept being closed without an answer. He then found it listed in PPA himself (9.40.FC8 64-bit Solaris). Others confirmed the fixpack had actually been generally available via PPA since early March 2006, under DB2 Data Management software, and that it is only visible if IDS 9 is on your contract. Much of the thread is complaint about PPA's convoluted primary/secondary contact registration process, with a suggestion to phone PPA support and ask for a manager; no fix for that is recorded.

Does anybody know when this is released?
It shows up in Release notes, but not in PPA or the new 'up to date'
.xls plat avail.
I have a call open with IBM, although it keeps getting closed and a new
one opened (PPA people obviously meeting their call metrics and bonus
plan) as I like the question I asked answered.
The PPA people have NFI on Informix and the Tech Supp guys (brilliant
though they are) do not really deal with this.
Anyone managed to get hold of the 9.4.FC8 Interim / fixpack?
TIA
Peter P.
PLS Ignore and read as a RELEASE FYI.., they must have been waiting for
me to make a post, cause looking in PPA it's just been released (in the
time it took for me to make this post) or my PPA just got fixed !

Well it's still not on my PPA site!
And I was only told a couple of weeks ago that it had been made GA.
This PPA stuff is crap - it has taken since December to get me set up
on it.
You need to get the Primary Contact to
a) register for PPA (WTF - they are the primary contact - why do they
need to register? Another case of IBM not being
'joined up' - so much for On-Demand Computing. You know Action A causes
Action B somewhere else to automatically
happen. IBM can't even do this internally yet they can sell the ability
to do it for others? Yeah right...another loss of
credibility from me to them.
b) IBM has to approve the Primary Contact getting PPA access. WTF? So
we have a delay.. we had to chase IBM for
this in the end. THIS IS NOT ON-DEMAND COMPUTING.
c) The Primary contact has to add you as a Seconday Contact
d) You can now sign in against that contract and get this... Fill in a
self-nomination form for PPA access.
e) The primary contact can approve you for PPA access.
Why do I have to do d)? Why can't the Primary Contact approve you in
step c)?
It took me ages to figure out that even though I am Seconday Contact
and i know the Primary contact
- we BOTH have to apply for PPA AND
- the Primary cannot just add me as having PPA access AND
- me being Seconday does not get me PPA access.
I went on the Internals course and even the trainer and IBM Tech
Support guy on the course say PPA is crap.
This is a crap application for setting up users, the worst I have ever
seen.
- The Primary Contact should automatically get PPA access
- When the Primary Contact adds someelse they should be able to grant
PPA access.
I hate it and the other IBM people hate it... Who does I need to
complain to? Which IBM manager needs to
lose their bonus before this gets fixed?
Hey Hey another post from Dave slamming IBM...
David.
If you want to complain about PPA the call the PPA support team and ask
to speak to a manager

IDS 9.40.UC8 was made available for electronic download via PPA in
early March.
You can only see views of products you have in your contract so if you
can't see it on there it is possible you don't have IDS 9 on your
contract or your contract details have been entered incorrectly.

It is on mine. Under DB2 Data Management software! Are you sure your site
has a licence for IDS 9?

Since 6/3/06.

Really? It's been a weekend of surprises for me. I read in a newspaper
article that said that bears released into woodland areas have been found to
be liable to defecate in the foliage ...
