on-mkisofs ?
Posted in 2001
Hello, I have a Linux server with IDS 9.21UC3 evaluation but the machine
doesn't have a tape streamer.
I do have a cd-writer and I'm looking for a replacement for 'ontape'
(other than having ontape write to temporary file and then run mkisofs
and then cdrecord).
Now what I was wondering : is it possible to directly output informix
data into ISO9660 format?
If there were something like 'onmkisofs' then I could specify the pipe
onmkisofs | cdrecord to make a backup (so piping the output of onmkisofs
directly into cdrecord).
I must say that with SE (standard engine) this is not much of a
problem. Because SE is filesystem based, I can just do a regular
mkisofs of all .dat files and .idx files and pipe the output of mkisofs
directly to the cdrecord utility for burning the cd ...
Maybe ontape could write to a fifo and then mkisofs could take its input
there (I doubt this is possible) and then pipe through to cdrecord ?
Thanks,
david.
