I think you'll find it's a characteristic of ODBC. Although Informix has a datatype of "money" (causes problems anyway: see other postings in this group from time to time), there is no ODBC type money, therefore when the data comes back from the database, through ODBC and then up to your application, it tends to get converted to decimal and presented to the application as such. Even though your app has a type of "money" (or equivalent) (Access does: don't know for sure about Powerbuilder), the app can't use it becuase ODBC can't pass it. Typically what happens is the app shows it as something like decimal. If you want the full explanation, I can probably dig it out. Sometimes you may get problems with money data not being able to be displayed at all (which is usually a problem within the driver), but the best you'll ever get is something like decimal or double coming back, no "money".
