I upgraded my Online engine, I-net, and I-star to 5.02.UC6 a few weeks ago and have been plagued by -408 errors ever since. To the best of my knowledge nothing else changed at the time. I have been and continue to work with Informix Tech Support on this but we have not resolved it yet. They say it has to be a configuration error on my systems. I have my doubts about that. I have done considerable messing around with this problem and I strongly suspect a problem with the I-Net package. I think this because I can run an older 5.00.xx I-Net and I do not get the errors. Unfortunately the old version of I-net that I have also has a bug that makes it painfully slow. I am wondering if there someone else that can vouch for the stability or instability of I-net and I-star 5.02.UC6 on the SCO Unix platform. Specifically I have the following setup. Server SCO Unix 3.2.4.2 SCO TCP/IP 1.2.1o Compaq Netflex Ethernet Card Online 5.02.UC6 I-STAR 5.02.UC6 Front-End SCO Unix 3.2.4.2 SCO TCP/IP 1.2.1o 3COM Etherlink III 3C509 4GL-RDS 4.10.UC4 ( I have tried a newer set of tools, but they had ) ISQL-RDS 4.10.UC2 ( other bugs and still had the -408 errors ) I-NET 5.02.UC6 One other note: Everything works fine when I'm the only one using the database, but if I start two database processes I will likely get the -408 error. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated! -- Dale Van Voorst voorst@dordt.edu Computer Services postmaster@dordt.edu Dordt College Sioux Center, IA 51250 (712) 722-6299
