A brief look at the source code shows that the line which closes the connection to a pipe (via pclose) hasn't been changed since 1985, and even 4.10.UC2 is more recent than that. The closeoutput() routine flushes the output file and then calls either pclose() or fclose(). Could there be something odd about pclose() on your machine -- you don't say what machine it is. Also, what is DBPRINT set to? Is the default value of DBPRINT "lpr" or "lp -s" or something else?
