If you're not using SE, then there are some key and very noticeable differences, of course, such as C-ISAM does not understand SQL. There are some ODBC drivers for C-ISAM, I believe, though I've not investigated how flexible they are. http://www.bytedesigns.com/ There may be other sources too... > In article <sleibogkjev118@news.supernews.com>, > "Eric van Wijk" <ericw@ccni.enel> wrote: > > We're developing an intranet application in ASP and need to get to data > > > that's in an c-isam database. What are the characteristics of c-isam (yes, i'm a complete newbie)? What are you looking for here? It's a C library that allows you to manipulate data stored physically in a data file and an index file. You can have multiple indexes on the file. It has support for transactions, audit trails, fixed and variable length data records, a variety of data types etc. In its latest incarnation, 7.25, it can access files bigger than 2 GB if the o/s allows it too. It was an optional component of XPG3 and XPG4 (X/Open standards).
