The initial install of 7.31 has the rootdbs too small and the llogdbs sits next to it on the same spindle. I need to increase the rootdbs, which means either moving the rootdbs-or-killing the llogdbs, extending the rootdbs, and then re-creating the llogdbs. Any issues in performing either of the above and which is recommended? tia Doug
You can add an additional chunk to the rootdbs. This will give you more space even though it's split into two sections. S.W. The rootdbs can not be moved with destroying the Instance. You could try the
following :
1. Create a new Logical Log DBSpace on a different spindle (recommended for
performance, anyway)
2. Add new logical logs into this DBSpace (onparams). Carry out a back up to
make them available.
3. Switch the current log & last checkpoint to one of the newer logs (onmode
-l, onmode -c)
4. Drop the old logical logs (onparams).
5. Drop the old Logical Log DBSpace
6. Add the released chunk(s) to the Root DBspace.
