RE: Copying across databases

looks like you may need to tune your ONCONFIG parameters, or force the engine to do LIGHT APPENDS by setting LIGHT_APPENDS=FORCE in the env variable (informix engine needs to be bounced after setting this env variable). -----Original Message----- From: owner-informix-list@iiug.org [mailto:owner-informix-list@iiug.org]On Behalf Of Andy Kent Sent: Tuesday, August 10, 2004 8:46 AM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: Copying across databases Having delved into this closer and now seen the client's message log, the problems seem to be: 1. Long checkpoints. Their disk space has all been configured on a single HP logical volume group; not something I usually feel comfortable with. Are these things inherently slow with writes? (I don't think (at least I hope not) there's a nasty RAID architecture lurking under there). 2. Lots of writes to the physical log, which I've been able to reproduce on my own box (9.40 on w2k). This happens even without logging and with the target table created as type RAW. Why? Andy sending to informix-list
