How to find the create date of a chunk ?
Posted in 2004

Hello all,
Could some one tell me the fastest and easiest way to find the creation date
of a chunk ?
Creation date of a chunk ? (not a dbspace because I can get it from oncheck
-pe |grep Created)
Thank you.

Do you Yahoo!?
Yahoo! Mail - 50x more storage than other providers!
It would not always be
accurate but you could look at the list of tables within the chunk (using the
oncheck -pe), find a newly created table within that chunk and look at thattable's creation date. All tables maintain their creation dates, but you have
to work your way backwards ...
Sadly, I do not know of a programmable way of determining this information,
unless it is captured somewhere in sysmaster.
Hope that helps.

Grep out the online log (if availible) for the date & the
chunk added msg.
On a HPUX 11i system I ran:
cat online.log |grep -E '2004|Chunk'
Which returns:
Mon Jul 26 00:00:20 2004
Tue Jul 27 00:01:35 2004
11:21:21 Chunk '/informix/BWP/sapdata/physdev28/data55' added to space
'psapfac
ta'.
12:44:51 Chunk '/informix/BWP/sapdata/physdev88/data176' added to space
'psapod
s'.
12:46:44 Chunk '/informix/BWP/sapdata/physdev88/data175' added to space
'psapod
s'.

Have you
tried onmonitor?
(mine doesn't work... I got a defect)...
But might that tell you as you look at dbspaces and ctrl-b or something
like that to get to the details and chunk info?
