TBLSPACE_STATS to turn off/on?

Hi,
I was following some of the previous msg threads on turning this parameter
off (setting to 0) and approach my consultants on my implementation of
Informix that is supporting SAP R/3.
The reply was that this parameter has some overheads, but if it is not on,
doing problem analysis, as well as when encountering memory errors. Is this
true?
Also, that this parameter is required for the results shown under
onstat -a
onstat -g ppf
So, am I losing out on analytical data but gaining performance if
TBLSPACE_STAT = 0?
Thanks for the help.
Steven
You will indeed lose the onstat -g ppf output but the overhead associated
with TBLSPACE_STATS is not insignificant. I have NEVER had this parameter
set through the four versions that have supported it and have never had any
memory corruption or other problems that were traced to this facility.
My recommendation? Keep it off unless you suspect some bottleneck then
turn it on for a reasonable period, say a week to gather stats then off
again after analysis.
