Hello Everybody, Env : 9.30 uc3 AIX 5.1 1) Is there any limitation on the first extent ? This is the current scenario. Dbspace name - xyz Data dbspaces - 8 (each 2gb * 2 chunks) Index dbspaces - 4 (each 3 gb) Fragmented by round robin. First extent size 1000000 Now if I change with the following Data dbspaces - 8 (each 2gb * 3 chunks) First extent size 2000000 When I create the table somehow it skips the first chunk and write its into 2nd chunk of each dbspaces, I tried upto 1950000 it works find as soon as I put 2000000 I get the funny result. 2) I am in the process of rebuilding the index, the complete server is available need some help to increase the speed. Physical memory 4 gb available. Thanks in advance, Sushil... _________________________________________________________________ Worried about inbox overload? Not on the extent size, but there is a limit on the chunk size. So if you are looking for a size close to the max chunk size, then IDS will look for the largest free space, i.e. a chunk with nothing in it. > 2) I am in the process of rebuilding the index, the complete server is > available need some > help to increase the speed. Physical memory 4 gb available. I'm sure there is a section in the tuning guide and it has been discussed here often enough, but you at least need to set PDQPRIORITY & PSORT_NPROCS. If you can change configuration parameters as well, then check the tuning guide. Cheers, -- Mark. +----------------------------------------------------------+-----------+ | Mark D.
