Copying INFORMIXDIR to another like server

Solaris 10 IDS 11.50.FC5WE i4gl 7.32.FC3 I have Informix and 4GL installed on one server. Should I just be able to copy the $INFORMIXDIR over to another similar server, or does 4gl do weird things and install libraries in other places? Larry

4GL used to, but it should be OK. If memory serves, 7.32 was the first version that didn't do that. BTW, in a separate but related item, if you upgrade your server version past 11.50.FC5 you will have to upgrade 4GL to 7.50 at the same time because IBM broke some library stuff in the server that 4GL depended on in 11.50.FC6 IB. Whichever one of 4GL or the engine is installed last breaks the other. Later versions of 11.50 have to be installed in separate INFORMIXDIR locations from 4GL 7.3x. 4GL 7.50 fixed it. Art Art S. I4GL doesn't install stuff in weird places. IDS does via GSKit. ... yet gskit install files are under $INFORMIXDIR/gskit, so you'd copy=20 them anyway and just have to run installgskit from that directory on=20 target machine.
