Locking of tables in ODBC Connection

Hello, Am using INTERSOLV 3.01 32-BIT INFORMIX ODBC Driver that comes with the Informix CLient SDK, to connect to Informix 7.24 database. This is used from Crystal Reports, However a simple Connection to the database thru an ASP code , puts a lock on the table which prevents other applications to use the table. The onstat shows that the LOCK has the 'Y' flag set - that is "Wait on condition" and the ISOLATION value is REPEAT. Changing the ISOLATION to Dirty Read on the database server end has made no difference at all. Could anybody tell me where the problem could be - Crystal REports? ODBC Driver? ADO? or the database?
