Problems with ole-db connection

I'm trying to make an ado connection (through ole-db) from an application running Windows 95 client, to an IDS 7.31 server running on NT. The middleware I'm using is SequeLink from Merant. Any attempt to connect to the server fails with a handshake problem. Merant tell me that this is due to an incompatible version of informix-connect being installed (version 9.0). However, this is the version that gets installed with Infomix Server. Has anyone expeienced similar problems? Has anyone managed to connect via ole-db, and if so which provider did you use?
