Hi all,
I run ontape level 0 backup every night but I feel stuck in restoring a
single database of the IDS 7.30UC2.
Does someone know an Informix Backup software which allows me to restore a
single database as need it?
Thanks in advance for any advise.

You cannot do it unless the database is in a dbspace by itself. The lowest
restore
granularity for ontape is dbspace, you can restore a single dbspace, however,
if you
are not rolling logs forward (which kind of defeats the purpose of the restore
which
I assume is to fix some fumble finger's muckup) the dbspace will be marked
INCONSISTENT and you will have to get tech support to login and mark it
online.
Ontape/onarchive/onbar are NOT designed to reload data screwed up by fumbling
users but to recover from media failure. Make frequent dbexport copies of the
database if users may mess things up and want a restore.
