I recommend an upgrade to your Informix version! Use the format command to partition your disk. Do not create partitions of more than 2Gb. Create links to the Character devices (/dev/rdsk/?) created by format which you can use withion informix. Change the permissions of the device(s) to 660 informix informix. Configure your initial instance and initialise. Can somebody guide me about Unix command to create a Character special file for this. I don't know much about this, so appreciate any help you offer. TIA Mukund
Also do not place any partition on the first cylinder that Informix is to use for chunks as Informix will overwrite the vtoc (partition table) and trash the drive. You should have the first partition start at cylinder 2. Art S. Kagel Murray Wood wrote: > > I recommend an upgrade to your Informix version! > > Use the format command to partition your disk.
