Check ulimit of the respective user. Check your # of tapeblocks per tape parameter in $ONCONFIG. If all else fails, you can write to a named pipe and use dd on the other side or you can write onto raw space, using the character dev drivers. A file size limit was last seen on SOL 2.4 (around 1995) when using character dev drivers. If never had similar problems with many combinations of IFX V7.12-V940 on SOL7,8, and 9 dic_k
