I'm trying to install DBD-Informix-2003.04 and I get the following message during the 'make' process: rm -f blib/arch/auto/DBD/Informix/Informix.sl LD_RUN_PATH="" /usr/bin/ld -b +vnocompatwarnings -L/usr/local/lib Informix.o dbdimp.o dbdattr.o sqltoken.o sqltype.o ixblob.o decsci.o odbctype.o link.o esqlcver.o esqlc_v6.o -L/opt/informix_dev2/lib -L/opt/informix_dev2/lib/esql +s -lifsql -lifasf -lifgen -lifos -lifgls -lnsl -lm -lsec /opt/informix_dev2/lib/esql/checkapi.o -lifglx -o blib/arch/auto/DBD/Informix/Informix.sl /usr/bin/ld: dbdimp.o: Mismatched ABI. 64-bit PA object file found in 32-bit link. *** Error exit code 1 Stop. My configuration is as follows: IDS 9.3FC5 CSDK 2.81FC1 HP-UX 11.00 HP ANSI C Compiler Perl 5.8.0 (32 bit) I am thinking that my problems are coming from the combination of a 64-bit CSDK and 32-bit Perl. I cannot build a 64-bit Perl so am I correct in assuming that I need to use a 32-bit CSDK? My problem may also be in 'ld', Jonathan's notes say to avoid 'ld' however I don't know if I have avoided it well enough. If that is the case do I need to rebuild Perl and make sure not to use 'ld'? I have been beating my head on this brick wall for quite a while now and would like to share my pain with someone who might have a better idea than myself. You can run into problems even if you have a 64-bit Perl if the 64-bit options don't get passed to the linker/loader properly (regardless of whether you're using ld or cc/gcc) - this has been demonstrated on Solaris, for example. However, it is not your (main) problem; your problem is trying to use 64-bit CSDK with 32-bit Perl. If you retrench to a 32-bit CSDK, you will not be able to use shared memory connections to your server. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2003.04 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
