I've had a similar problem in the past. I was using C-ISAM files from = MicroFocus Cobol and Informix' C-ISAM to write a C program to do indexed = searches. If one of the programs (Cobol or C) had the file open the = other one reported a locked file. I concluded that the two versions had = diverged in development from a common original and that neither could = quite understand the other's locking mechanism and failed safe. I think = I've also seen references to the same problem using Informix SQL and = C-ISAM where the versions were slightly different. In that case you = could try to get equivalent versions but if the C-ISAM is non-Informix = you may well not succeed. Ian
