There's also one part of our :application that select's & transmits BLOBS across the network as you do, but that's the one part :of the application that DOES perform well. We too use the "native" PB driver, no ODBC. It would have been very interesting if you could have done a trial with the OpenLink ODBC drivers though. From other reports they seem to be faster than "native" drivers. The "native" drivers using I-Net will go through at least as many layers of functioncalls in DLL's as the best ODBC-drivers do (that do not use I-Net). If it's too hard to change your PB programs to use ODBC may be you could make a small and simple test program to measure performance (on blobs as well as the character data you have problems with). A real life report on the results would be more than interesting. You can download a free trial version from www.openlinksw.com :Plain 'ol character result sets still drag across the net though, the problem I still maintain is :somewhere in PB, Inet or Online engine communication protocol. We'll be sniffing the link in :great detail in a couple of weeks, hopefully that will clear up the mystery. Believe me, we're :very serious about solving this problem.
