Re: Level 0 Archive size
Posted in 2000
I have found that an ontape archive to a disk file is limited to 2G for
Online 7.30 on HP-UX 10.20 even though the Unix file system (vxfs with the
largefiles option) allows files greater than 2G. I have found the same to
be true for dbexport/dbimport files to/from unix file system files. We
have also discovered that Online 7.31 on NT 4.0 DOES allow file system
files larger than 2G for both ontape and dbimport/dbexport. We do not have
7.31 for Unix at this time so I don't know if this a platform issue or a
version issue.
Regarding the second point, the ontape utility does not back up unused
pages.

I have called Informix support and they tell me that the size of a level 0
archive of an online engine is limited to 2 gig.
Once the level 0 reaches 2 gig on a tape, the engine will prompt you to
input an additional tape to complete the archive.
1) I know this is not true, as I have customers completing level 0 archives
that are larger than 2 gig, and the archive goes to 1 tape.
2) Informix tells me that the level 0 archive size is one-to-one for the
number or pages used in the online environment.
I am trying to research this, and would like to know what anyone else
thinks or knows about this.
Thanks!
