Uniplex E-Mail
Posted in 1994
Can anybody help me?? I am using Uniplex v7.00c and v7.01a with SCO Unix v 3.2.x. When E-Mail is sent to other users, Uniplex appends the message subject, date and time to the end of a file /tmp/WPMS0tty<tty-num> where <tty-num> is the number of the tty currently in use by the user to whom you are sending the E-Mail example: /tmp/WPMS0ttya01. Periodically, uclock picks up the details from this file and displays a message on the relevant user's screen. If the user is running any application other then Uniplex at the time the message is mailed, the new message subject and originating user's name is displayed on screen correctly. If, however, the user is using Uniplex, an alarm box opens up to display the subject of the new mail message. Unfortunately, in this instance, the subject text picked up is always the first entry in the /tmp/WPSM0tty... file - this obviously causes confusion as the latest mail message is always appended to the end of this file not to the beginning. Also, Uniplex never seems to clear down these files. Has anybody else out there experienced any similar problems or can anybody offer any suggestions as to how to get uclock to display the correct message in the Uniplex alarm box or, when/if Uniplex actually clears these files down ?? Many Thanks for any help in advance. -- *************** tech@compsys.demon.co.uk *************** Tel: 044 (0)1482 803961 Fax: 044 (0)1482 804333 ********************************************************
