CRT TERMCAP for XP CLIENT

We are upgrading Client Desktop from NT to XP. We are using CRT terminal emulation software to connect HP-UNIX servers and accessing Informix Applications developed in Infomix-4GL using Fourgen Case Tools. Graphic Menu bars and Arrow key functions are working fine on NT Desktop with vt100 termcap using $INFORMIXDIR/etc/termcap file. The same environment is not working on XP clients and graphic menu bars/boxes are not showing correctly, but arrow keys are working correctly. IF /etc/termcap used (HP-UX), graphic menu bars/boxes are showing correctly, but arrow keys are not working in some menus and scrolling in detail input screens. I would appreciate, if any one help me on this. thanks Ravi Yarlagadda
You need to check your release notes and determine if INFORMIXTERM is a viable variable - then check to see if you are using terminfo or termcap (according to that variable). Once you have determined which you are in fact using, you need to modify the definition of the terminal to match the behaviour you are seeing from the XP software. Since the graphics portions are much harder to work with therein than arrow keys, you might want to copy the definition you are using in the HP termcap - either to a new file or a new entry in the existing file (I would recommend a newfile and then set TERMCAP accordingly) and fix the arrow key definitions to match what the terminal sends. - you might be able to just pull them out of the other termcap definition. Be warned - termcap may no longer be documented on your system. You can man terminfo and get the terminfo and corresponding termcap codes, but if you can find an old manual that documents termcap you might be better off. Hint: the arrow Key definitions are ku, kd, kr and kl If it is terminfo that you are modifying, then you will need to alter the source file and then compile it with 'tic'. None of this is really hard, but the first time you look at one of those definitions you feel like you're looking at greek. It's ok, you know greek. If you can't handle it, send me the two definitions and I'll cobble something together. cheers j. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Yarlagadda,...." <ryarlagadda@labattusa.com> To: <ids@iiug.org> Sent: Wednesday, March 12, 2003 10:02 AM Subject: CRT TERMCAP for XP CLIENT [661] > > We are upgrading Client Desktop from NT to XP.
