Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Hi
I have installed IDS/PE v7.22 for Windows 95 and Windows NT on the laptop with Windows 95.
I tried "connect" in Command Center but the pop-up message, "Unable to connect to the database server because an entry in the hosts file is missing. Please add the hostname information contained in the OSAHOSTS registry to the hosts file."
I was looking for OSAHOSTS and couldn't find it. Where is it located? Our informixdir is c:\\informix Is the hosts file located in windows/systems? Is it different?
I have not connected it to the network. My supervisor wanted to take it and work at home. Does he need remote to keep the engine up? Can he do it with IDS/PE without network or remote requirement?
Also I tried to bring up the engine up from command prompt by using oninit -iy but the log file shows:
listener-thread = -930: Cannot connect to database server (KCTBJUQK).
Attemping to bring listener thread down
PANIC: Attempting to bring system down.
I am familiar with that error for unix box, not Windows 95 or NT.
Thanks
Thuc
