RE: What about Sysdatabases ?
Posted in 2007
Hi Allen,
I think there is an equivalent in XP, though I have never setup a
database in Windows Environment.
Do you see errors in online.log file that has been created during
startup ?
If yes, please post these, so we can find out what has happened.
Normally, I would think the Windows installation process would take care
of setting up the sysmaster DB.
Are you setting up a fresh instance or do you have a running environment
?
In the first case, I would recommend to uninstall everything and retry
installation. Maybe some requirements were not matched
during the initial installation.

Hi Marcus,
Thank you for your timely help and effort.
This is the first mail i am seeing from you, i guess i am not in the
group you are talking about.
I am an Oracle DBA and had some trouble getting my ropes around
Informix.
Marcus, i am on Windows environment (XP) ,i guess the script won't work
, i tried doing it .....i guess , its designed to work on Unix
environment.
Thanks again.
Regards,
Allen

Hi,
I am writing to you directly, cause you did not notice my first post
(are you listed in the newsgroup ?)
Sysdatabases is a system table in the sysmaster db. It is automatically
created and there is no need to set it up manually.
If this does not exist, the buildsmi script did not execute on system
initialisation.
You should see a note in online.log. This is mainly because you did not
set INFORMIXSERVER/INFORMIXDIR before initialisation or dbaccess was not
in PATH.
You can execute INFORMIXDIR/etc/buildsmi for yourself afterwards (I
think as user informix, but better consult the manual).
