Granted, the Informix Guide to SQL manuals are primarily concerned with the servers and (secondarily) with ESQL/C, nevertheless, they are very important and list the functions you can use in SQL statements. It then depends on context as to which other functions can be used. In ISQL (ACE and Perform), the extra functions you can use are limited. Primarily, there are a few special words like PAGENO that have a meaning in ACE reports, but that's about it. Other functions have to be written by you and compiled into a custom runner. In I4GL, of course, you can write as many functions as you want. The built in set is more extensive than in ISQL. For both ISQL and I4GL, you need the latest manuals, but I think that's all.
