I have lots of Illustra experience on Unix but none on WNT. I'll take a shot anyway: There's a difference between the miadmin OS user and the miadmin Illustra user. The latter is used to connect to a DB. Did you specify a password for miadmin -- or should you have specified one? On Unix, the default is no password. You can get in trouble if you don't specify a password directly but you have one set with the MI_PASSWORD environment variable.
