Herb, The SETNET utility can manager multiple definitions for different hosts. Only one can be the default configuration, but that does not mean it will be the only one available. If COGNOS uses data sources (ODBC) , you can specify at that level to which database/host it will connect to. But firt, remember to add the entries using the SETNET uitility. I use intersolv , and it has the options button to specify INFORMIX-specific information. Also when you specify the database name (not the data-source-name) you use the database@hostname sintax convention, in order to me more specific. If you have an application that connects to INFORMIX using the ESQL/C libraries, then you only have to use the database@hostname sintax.
