Duplicate table names in buffered mode.

Hello,
we have a little problem here with an application running
against informix 7.2x on HP and AIX. The database is running
in buffered mode. For some strange reason, we end up having
tables with duplicate names like user1.table1, user2.table1
in the same database.
So it looks ANSI-like, but again, we run non-ANSI mode.
All users should use the same table,
but the application "takes care" of the situation, and creates on the
fly a new table, if the table is not there.
Of course, if you go to dbaccess, and try to create duplicate table,
it will not work.
The error is very intermittent, and we are not able to reproduce it,
but it happend five times in last two months.
It happens on both platforms - HP and AIX, and different versions
of Informix 7.20 - 7.24.
And BTW: user1, user2 have dba access to the database, that's
the requirement of the app.
We tried to open the issue with Informix, as this is evidently their
problem, but they point at the app vendor, as the source of the problem,
so we are stuck right now.
Any ideas ?
Paul
