RE: XPS - or VLDB (Re: XPS SIG)

Excellent question/point. It is definitely a grey line (to mix metaphors). Perhaps I should instead ask who out there is handling DSS style data instead of OLTP data. In other words - do you perform batch updates/inserts and let users loose to run monster queries, or do you have transactional insert/update/delete processing with well defined reporting requirements. After all, it's not the size that matters, it's how you wiggle the bait. Why do I care - I suppose I want to talk directly with folks who share the same sort of issues I have without bothering everybody else. Perhaps I'm also trying to figure out how to approach and answer these and other issues. If I keep giving DSS style answers to OLTP questions, there's not much point to reading them other than to see the difference (well - the humour too perhaps). I've also promised Tech Notes an article on XPS - and I'm polling the audience. cheers j. > > Allow me to ask > how many folks > >are > >doing VLDB but not on XPS? > > How B is B? > > >Yes, I am an agent of Satan, but my duties are largely ceremonial. > > Imagine that, both of us! Was that you at the last coven in the red hood with the basket? ;-)
