crash recovery in informix

hi every one, with progress we can recover from system faileres without using a backup medi. in progress we call that a crash recovery.(that suppose that a disk is still ok). My question is : Can we do that in informix ?? I mean, for exemple if we had a problem causing by a long transaction, or a prosses how was updating data was killed and we have "can't attache to the shared memory". can we recover that without using a backup media. and I suppose that my logical logs are backed up to /dev/null thanks for every response !!

Such recovery is automatic when the engine restarts. It is called 'Fast Recovery' and is in integral part of the Informix Dynamic Server architecture. It uses the on-disk copies of the current logical logs to roll forward all transactions since the last checkpoint then rolls back any transactions that were not committed at crash time. Art S. Kagel
