External restore plus ON-Bar Logical restore

Does anyone have experience of performing a physical restore, external to Informix, then using ON-Bar to perform the logical restore to bring the Instance current? Also can this be performes on a machine (identical configuration) other than the one from which the data was copied and the logical logs were created and backed up on? (ON-Bar) Thanks in advance Murray Wood
Murray, Have not tried it (externals), but see no reason why it should be any MORE difficult to restore onto another box than a 'normal' OnBar backup.. That's tough enough as it is. Hello, I have a project that requires a 3 way testing of a database on Informix, Sybase and Oracle. The project defnition says we will have a resource familiar with all three databases (installation on Unix, setup, etc) but I would like to be more familiar with the product before starting this. I have found Oracles' online documentation on Cd and already have Sybase release we will be working with, but couldn't find Informix's on their website or current reference to it in this newsgroup. Could anyone supply me with information on where to download, buy, or view the documentation online? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Marc Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
