Is there any way to use "SET ROLE ><ROLE-NAME> within Crystal Report. The reason for this is that I can setup a >database role for crystal users and then only specified users can have >access to specified tables via crystal. I have tried Openlink ODBC driver as >well which has got a feature to run initial SQL once connection is >established, BUT unfortunately "Set Role" does not seems to be working with >this driver. > >Thanks in advance. > >Hari > Which OpenLink Driver are you using? OpenLink provides Single-Tier and Multi-Tier ODBC Drivers. If you're not sure -- the Single-Tier product involves installation on only the client machine, while the Multi-Tier product is typically installed on both the client and database server machines. You can avoid the use of the "set role" command with the Multi-Tier Driver and still be able to restrict user privileges based on the application in use. Not only can the Multi-Tier ODBC Drivers restrict access based on the username and application, it can do so based on client operating system and machine-name (or IP address). You can download the drivers for a free evaluation from: http://www.openlinksw.com If you have any difficulties with our driver, simply use our free online support system.
