No, but there is an SQL command to set the isolation level that you can
use in each of those tools. Check out the SET ISOLATION command for the
full syntax.
Ace is part of the ISQL package, as is Perform. If you want to set the
isolation level in Perform, then there is another environment variable
called SPERISOL.

Dang. I too was hoping for a set-n-forget variable for dbaccess and isql so
that I don't have to remember or educate users.
Hey - I read (in Tech Notes Vol10 issue 3) that XPS supports stored
procedures called
public.sysdbopen()
"user".sysdbopen()
I don't suppose the more mundane engines support that too? I suppose I COULD
test it for myself ;-(
