ODBC/NT/Informix - slow connection

I've installed the the Informix ODBC driver on my NT workstation and although I can get connected to the Informix DB, it takes a long time. The initial connection to the database takes about 2-3 minutes and then 1-2 more minutes to bring up the table list. Once connected and I run an application like MS-Query, the result set is produced in less than 5 seconds. Pulling the results of MS-Query into Excel or Access takes another 2-3 minutes. Does anyone have an idea of why the process of establishing a connection to the Informix database takes so long? Thanks for your help!

Have you DNS, Wins or other aliases resolvers? Have you tried to refer to your host using its tcp address in setnet32? Andrea

Try pinging your database host and see how long it takes. I had a problem where the NT server had an invalid IP address in the DNS lookup that caused a 20 second delay in connecting from a client.
