951: Incorrect password error after Big Fix.

IDS: 10.00.UC6 OS: SunOS 5.8 =20 I'm getting a -951 error on only one application database, in one of three instances. This was after a Big Fix was performed on the OS password file. I can get to the catalog databases, but not the application database. I can't even get to the tables logged on as informix. This is the primary of an HDR pair and the secondary gives me the same error on the same database for informix. =20 Do I need to bounce the server? 1) check $INFORMIXDIR/bin/oninit permission, it should be like -rwsr-sr-x 2 root informix 155243027 Jun 27 14:52 oninit 2) can you log in the machine with user 'informix'?

We had the Big Fix reverted back to the original password file on 107 serve= rs. That fixed the issue with the userid logins. It also affected the inf= ormix ID against the database. We are good now. Watch out for Big Fixes against the /etc/passwd file. A Big Fix is a process that one of our SA team uses to flash out fixes/patc= hes/etc to servers. I've seen Big Fix products on some window servers, whi= ch monitors and provides updates for you.
