(a) 150 concurrent users is at the lower end of the range where
MaxConnect starts to show benefits (possibly even below the lower end
of the range).
(b) Are you using two machines, or just one? Unless you have
MaxConnect running on a different piece of hardware from the database
server, you won't see any benefit from it.
(c) How good is your network? I'm not sure how much benefit you see
unless your 150 simulated users have actual network connections to the
MaxConnect machine. And you need a good (preferably private subnet)
connection from the MaxConnect machine to the database server. [I
have some reservations about making this comment; I'm not as sure
about it as the other two. It is a second order effect.]
Testing MaxConnect well is hard.

We set up a MaxConnect on IDS 9.3UC1 on AIX 5.1 plartform. We run a test
to compare the response time of direct connect DB and through MaxConnect.
The test generate 150 concurrent users to run a simple select statement on
dbaccess. To complete the same job, MaxConnect take around 100 secs and
direct connect DB just take 15 secs. I has increased the WORKERTHREAD and
TRANSPORT value in MaxConnect but no improvement.
I understand as MaxConnect is added between client and DB server and it will
need overhead, is it reasonable?
Any experience or idea?
Thanks
