BAR_BSALIB_PATH variable

With regards to the BAR_BSALIB_PATH variable in the ONCONFIG file, /usr/lib/ibsad001.so is for Solaris. What's the a and l for (as in ibsad001.sa and ibsad001.sl)? My guess is that pertain to different versions of unix (such as AIX, HPUX, etc.). Thanks.
