FYI, I'm not sure if these are the correct groups to hit for a question like this, but here it goes.. I'm Getting a problem when restoring an Informix 7.30.uc6 data base on HP-UX 10.20 with Openview Storage Data Protector 5.0. (omniback) getting the following message: 'XBSA Error (BSACreateObject): A system error occurred. Aborting XBSA session'. Also, trying to use TESTBAR utility for troubleshooting. Getting 'Received ABORT request from RSM (ERR: Bar object not found in the databa se.)' I'm not sure what it means by object_name. The following is the syntax for TESTBAR. ** This program simulates integration backup/restore. ** Parameters are: -type:third-party_application_name, e.g. Oracle required -appname:instance_of_the_application, e.g. Oracle SID default:same as -type -conc:concurrency default:1 -perform:[backup|restore|checkuser] required -bar:barlist_name required -rsctype:resource_type e.g. logs default:- -object:object_name default:"TestObject" required at restore -delay:delay_after_each_block_in_sec default:0 -size:number_of_blocks_to_write default:10 -flags:additional_flags(OK, ABORT, HANG) default:"OK" -version:object_version required at restore -from:source host default:current host nam e -file:filename_to_use default:- -verbose default:- Example: testbar -type:MSSQL -perform:backup -file:data.doc -bar:Seven -object:Data Any help or wisdom would be greatly appreciated!! Hi, the error message that you get from On-Bar points to a problem in the Storage Manager. Unfortunately I'm not really familiar with Omniback, but surely there is somewhere a message log for it. This is where I would check for more information, i.e. why it has a problem with creating the BSA Object. I don't know the TESTBAR program/utility at all, so I can't tell you anything about its syntax ... object_name : XBSA is dealing with "objects". Each entity that is backed up by the SM is an object (with IDS these are the dbspaces and logical log files). To be able to retrieve these objects again for later restore, they are given a name, the "object name". I think that from the SM/XBSA perspective the object name can be quite arbitrary, though obviously it helps if each object has a unique name. The object name needs to be provided by the user of the XBSA interface. So either you provide it, or the TESTBAR utility will use "TestObject" as default ... that's what I gather from the output below ... regards, Martin -- Martin Fuerderer IBM Informix Development Munich Data Management Solutions "Phillips, Ken" <ken.phillips@transamerica.com> Sent by: forum.subscriber@iiug.org 14.03.2003 22:37 To: ids@iiug.org cc: Subject: Informix Onbar backup errors utilizing Omniback [728] FYI, I'm not sure if these are the correct groups to hit for a question like this, but here it goes..
