Don't pull your hair out if you can't follow Art's (usually 110% correct) advice. Do however, check for LOCK TABLE statements, if this is what you mean by the table being open. You may also like to make sure that your program isn't doing something silly like; begin work select every row in the table update every row pause for more input, allowing the user to go to lunch etc. rollback/commit -- Bryan Tonnet batonnet@phase4.com.au
