Considering takovers (or just buying into the company), I think Oracle is out of the question (would Larry admit they need Informix's technology?) But, IMHO, other bad big guys, Microsoft, would do themselves a service by investing in Informix. Consider: SQL server is better than other MS products, but it is still an old hat, not having progressed much beyond its Sybase roots. Bill and Larry are fierce competitors, if not in DB arena, then in NC vs. Win battle. Helping Oracle competitor stay afloat and getting access to realy superior DB tachnology would not hurt Redmond guys. Any comments?
